Vellum Architecture + Design, an award-winning, globally-recognized residential architecture firm in Asheville, NC, have won BUILD Magazine’s Architect Award for the Best Emerging Residential Architecture Practice – Southeast, USA.
“On behalf of BUILD, I am delighted to confirm that Vellum Architecture + Design has been named as: Best Emerging Residential Architecture Practice – Southeast USA”, declared Laura Hunter, awards manager at BUILD. Vellum also won Best Modern Mountain Residential Project (East Coast USA) for their Elk Mountain Ridge project in Asheville, North Carolina.
”This award symbolizes the hard work and dedication you have displayed compared to others within the Architecture sector, and we sincerely hope that you are pleased with the news!” she remarked.
”Our company is honored to be the recipient of the 2022 Architect Awards for the Best Emerging Residential Architecture” said Founding Principal and Owner of Vellum Architects, Mark Rudolf. ”Our passion for innovation and commitment to excellence is what keeps driving us, and has made us leaders in modern residential design and luxury resort architecture”, he said.
Vellum Architecture + Design is winning the Architect Awards on the back of clinching the 2021 Best New Firm – South by The Architect’s Newspaper as part of its first-ever Best of Practice Awards, among other recognitions. “These accolades reinforce our drive to bring thoughtful, innovative modern design to the Carolinas. It is an exciting time to be a part of the profession here.”
Founded in 2018, Vellum’s residential architecture portfolio includes numerous modern mountain homes in North Carolina, California, and Colorado. Rudolf moved to Asheville seven years ago after spending 14 years in the Aspen, Colorado area, where he worked for two acclaimed design studios. It was there that he developed his site sensitive approach to design and interest in “place-making”.
This approach recognizes the unique beauty and importance of each site, as well as the importance of respecting and enhancing a project’s surroundings. In addition to the many custom residential projects in his quiver, Rudolf has also been instrumental in the design of numerous hospitality ventures — including the award-winning projects of Castello di Casole in Tuscany, Italy, one of the top three hotels in the world by Travel and Leisure Magazine, and The Sebastian of Vail, Colorado, frequently ranked in the top ten resorts in the western United States.
BUILD magazine is a quarterly digital publication dedicated to the construction and property markets. The Architecture Awards is open to everyone within the industry from interior designers & renovators to refurbishment specialists and project managers.
