Road to Triumph: Victims of Assault Awareness Event

According to research from the CDC, nearly 1 in 5 women have experienced unconsented advances during their lifetime. The Road to Triumph is an event that was created to bring awareness to victims and enlighten individuals on how to overcome it. This virtual event will be held on Facebook Live on April 2, 2022, from 11:30 am to 1 pm EST. The goal is for women to feel empowered, not just during the event but after as well. The purpose of this virtual event is for women to come together and share their stories about their triumphs and struggles.

The event will feature guest speakers and other special guests, including Author and Board Certified Health Coach LaJune Singleton, Author and Life Coach Yesenia Montague, Founder of I AM Holistic Wellness Nicole Rebecca, and psychotherapist and co-founder of United Paths Margaret McComiskey. Road to Triumph is an event to bring awareness, education, and support to victims of these experiences. There are millions of victims affected in the United States. The numbers are likely higher since many cases are unreported. In some cases, victims feel ashamed, embarrassed, or afraid to tell police, friends, or family about the assault.

These traumatic experiences affects the victims’ health in many ways and it can lead to short-term and long-term mental and physical health issues. The trauma that results from assault can have an impact on survivors’ employment when it comes to time missed from work, poor performance, job loss, or even being unable to work. These issues interrupt the earning potential and have long-term effects on the economic well-being of survivors and their families.
