The Ginni Show, a multi-award nominated podcast returns for its 5th season, May 19th. Before moving to New York City, The Ginni Show began in Australia as a short comedy series in 2016. With stories of growing up as a Sri Lankan immigrant family in a new place, the episodes shed light on Ginni’s childhood with an overprotective mother, hilarious family dynamics, and the juggling of cultural expectations while living in Melbourne’s suburbia. The show’s ingenuity and storytelling prowess ultimately earned itself a place as a finalist for Best Comedy Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards and earned a Dual Top 10 Finalist Spot in Nova Entertainment’s Podquest.

The show’s host and producer, Ginni Saraswati, is an award-winning journalist, entrepreneur and casual comedian who’s interviewed big names like Paula Abdul, Ruby Rose, The Pussycat Dolls, and more. Her NYC production house, Ginni Media, which will be producing each episode, has also worked with big names Allure, Siemens, and Architectural Digest.

Why is the show being released May 19th? It’s the birthday of the host’s mother. After losing her in 2021, Saraswati talks fondly of how much her mother was a big part of the first three seasons and a huge part of why she landed in podcasting. “Her stories, what she taught me, and how she raised me is in the very fabric of The Ginni Show.” Says Ginni. “Losing her was heartbreaking so being able to launch this season on her birthday helps me feel like she is a part of it.”

Be sure to tune in this Thursday for the first sneak peak of The Ginni Show, with episodes releasing every Monday at 6am EST.
