Anteel Tequila has won 32 awards and accolades since 2019 including an Innovation Award, two Consumer’s Choice Awards and may just hit the prestigious 50 awards mark by the end of the year, making it one of the most talked about, and awarded, tequila brands on the market.
April 18, 2022 – Anteel Tequila is a premium tequila brand created by husband-and-wife duo Don and Nayana Ferguson that has won 32 awards since 2019. Boasting the world’s only Coconut Lime Blanco and Tarocco Blood Orange Blanco, Anteel Tequila has now launched in Oklahoma with Premium Brands Wine & Spirits based in Oklahoma City.
Nayana Ferguson, co-founder and COO, is the first black woman in the world to own a tequila brand, receiving national attention for being a pioneer in the spirits industry as well as being a 16-year pancreatic cancer survivor and 9-year breast cancer survivor. Nayana is also a national advocate for PanCAN, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, where she helps educate people about pancreatic cancer while sharing her story to provide hope to those affected by this horrific disease.
With PanCAN, Nayana has been featured in a national commercial, virtually spoken in front of Congress for Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy Day to encourage research funding and will be featured in a national ad campaign in June 2022.
After 11 months of working on a dream it became a reality on August 27, 2018, where Anteel Tequila was launched only in the Michigan market, the founders home state. Anteel is short for Antillean Crested Hummingbird which pays tribute to the hummingbird logo of the brand. This was the species of hummingbird that the couple saw during their engagement trip to the Dominican Republic in 2016, where they first talked about creating a tequila brand.
There are four expressions in the portfolio: The world’s only Coconut Lime Blanco Tequila, Anteel Reposado Tequila which is rested 8 months in Tennessee whiskey barrels and Anteel Blanco heralded as one of the smoothest Blanco Tequilas on the market. In a little over 3 years these expressions have won 32 International Awards and Accolades, including 2 Consumer Choice Awards and an Innovation Award for the Coconut Lime Blanco. There is also very limited-edition Blood Orange Blanco Tequila that’s infused with all-natural flavorings from Tarocco Blood Oranges grown in Sicily, Italy that’s released once a year.
Anteel Tequila is physically distributed in 10 states with Oklahoma becoming the latest addition in their plan to expand distribution nationwide. Anteel Tequila is also distributed in The Caribbean and is available for online ordering with nationwide shipping. The goal is to add an additional 5 states by August 2022, increasing the count to 15 states, a rapid growth since 2019 which was their first full year on the market.
