Tonette Ngassa is delighted to announce that Black women in the United States looking for a break from their stressful lives, can turn to her organization to relax and connect with other Black women in a safe and comfortable space.
Tonette is the founder of Inky Womenfolk Retreats, an organization she established in the later parts of 2021 to create safe spaces where Black women can heal, connect and be their truest selves comfortably and unapologetically.
According to Tonette, the pandemic took a toll on everyone, disrupting businesses and shutting down entire industries. And while the world is slowly reeling from the economic hardships, not much attention has been paid to the mental and emotional impact of the pandemic.
“I created Inky Womenfolk Retreats to help provide safe healing spaces for Black women. The pandemic has greatly affected all our lives and I felt it was only right that Black women have their own unique space to let our hair down and find strength in each other.”
Through fun and relaxing activities such as culturally centered healing modalities, catered holistic eating, intimate conversations, belly laughs, and wine tasting, Inky Womenfolk Retreats help Black women form deeper connections with Mother Earth and their Black ancestors.
The phenomenal founder, who holds a B.A. from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, as well as a Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law, also has over 24 years of experience in the field of victim services for military and civilian agencies.
Tonette has provided direct services to survivors of sexual and domestic violence at their most vulnerable moments. And in addition to developing and delivering training on self-care for advocates, Tonette also currently manages culturally specific grant funds.
The organization has announced that it has scheduled its next all-inclusive Black women’s healing retreat to begin on the 21st and end on the 24th of October, 2022. The four-day retreat will be held in an eight-bedroom mansion of over 5500 square feet, with all meals, drinks, fabulous activities, and swag bags included in the $1500 registration fee.
