PHILADELPHIA, PA – Alexandra McGroarty released her debut book, “Bridging the Gap – Reducing Gender Bias in the Workplace,” on June 8, 2022. It’s an overview of the current state of gender bias in the workforce with a personal twist, outlining the biases and discrimination that women face daily and offering solutions to reduce this bias.
McGroarty offers personal stories and anecdotes to provide context to the issues she’s discussing in the book. She also discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we view women in the workplace.
“After the COVID-19 pandemic struck, caregiving responsibilities due to closed schools, closed daycares, and increased illness overwhelmingly shifted to women,” says McGroarty. “The pandemic was the great amplifier for gender bias and inequities both at home and in the workplace. As a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practitioner, I have such passion for bringing the biases to light and paving the way for reducing gender inequity.”
After outlining the biases and discrimination that women have to face daily, McGroarty offers solutions to reducing gender bias that can be implemented by company executives and anyone else who would like to make a difference with the issue of gender inequality and gender bias in the workplace. She also offers insight into how women and those around them can help cultivate growth opportunities in the workplace for women.
As a woman in the workforce, McGroarty has experienced gender bias countless times. As someone who’s passionate about diversity, equality and inclusion, McGroarty hopes to educate others on gender bias and discrimination through her book. She hopes this education will then lead to positive change in the workplace.
