John Hayes, Director of Sales at BALYO, a leader in innovative robotic solutions for material handling, was recently interviewed by Kevin Lawton, podcast host on The New Warehouse. Hayes and Lawton discussed BALYO’s offerings, very narrow aisle setups and islands of automation. The interview is also featured in the sister publication Material Handling Wholesaler. Listen to the full interview here.
According to Hayes, BALYO offers autonomous mobile robots of different styles from pallet jacks to reach trucks to VNA (very narrow aisle) trucks so they have something that would fit businesses’ needs in multiple processes. BALYO is focused on being able to provide a solution for movement of materials in the middle of the fulfillment process.
Hayes discussed the benefits of VNA trucks. “VNAs allow you to get more utilization from your space because the aisle space between racking can be closer together. Typically, you would utilize these racking setups with special equipment like a specialized reach truck or a turret truck,” noted Hayes.
For more than twenty years Hayes has been evaluating, designing, developing, and implementing innovative technology solutions, with a particular focus in the automated guided vehicle (AGV) and automated mobile robots (AMR) space.
Lawton is the founder of The New Warehouse and has been working in the distribution and logistics industry since 2012 when he began his career as a temp employee in the Inventory department at Simon & Schuster.
